Kim Yu-na’s coach to visit Seoul this week for training

The U.S. coach of Korean figure skating star Kim Yu-na will fly in from the United States this week to join her in Seoul to prepare for the upcoming world championships.

All That Sports, Kim’s agency in Seoul, announced Tuesday that Peter Oppegard will arrive in Seoul from Los Angeles on Thursday.

The agency said Oppegard and Kim will train in Seoul for the April 24-May 1 World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow.

Kim had returned to Seoul from training in Los Angeles on March 20, after the world championship, initially set for March 21-27 in Tokyo, was indefinitely postponed following Japan’s March 11 earthquake, tsunami and the ensuing radiation scare.

The International Skating Union (ISU) rescheduled and relocated the competition last week.

Oppegard didn’t make the trip with Kim on March 20.

The agency said Oppegard accepted Kim’s request to come to Seoul so that they could work together again for the world championships.
