Seoul Women’s University celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and under the slogan ‘Virtuous Education 50 Prestigious Education 50’ will continue to do things the right way to lead to high quality education.

Seoul Women’s University aims to be a world-class undergraduate education centered university that improves already talented students and has set three strategic goals to attain this: solidifying and building on education basics, inspiring passion and becoming a university that leads the change. It is also working to reinforce its global ability. The programs within Seoul Women’s University that are designed to improve its global standing are Bahrom-SWELL, an international exchange program, Global Service -Learning Program, an overseas volunteer scheme and the Experiencing World-Culture Program.

With Bahrom-SWELL all students of Seoul Women’s University can enjoy at least a five-week program of English education. The school expects to increase the participation rate of the students in English education and hopes it will result in raising the students’ global competitiveness.

Since 1997 Seoul Women’s University has improved its international cooperation programs under the education goal that ‘The World is Our Classroom.’

During the summer vacation the school selects students from its overseas cooperation universities. The selected students are given the chance to live with Seoul Women’s University students. The program consists of a Korean Studies program called BIP (Bahrom International Program) and includes studying and living together with Seoul Women’s University students and learning about language, lectures on culture differences, home stays and visiting cultural places. This program is one of the best and largest summer international Korean studies programs among Korean universities, both in size and contents.

Seoul Women’s University is also working on the education of students at overseas sites. Currently the school has student exchange programs with 80 universities in 17 countries including the U.S., Canada, England, Japan and Germany as of February 2011 and has sent 173 students and received 134 students. In addition the school has dual degree programs with many schools including IPFW in the U.S., Mejiro University of Japan and University of Gloucestershire in England.

The school also attracts talent from third world nations including China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, providing full scholarships for students so they can study and return to their home countries to become leaders of society.
