Girls’ Generation album delayed

Fans will have to wait a little longer for the next Girls’ Generation album because it is now slated for release in both the United States and Korea, the group’s agency SM Entertainment announced over the weekend.

The nine-member girl group was originally going to release the title track of their third album “The Boys” online tomorrow with the album slated for release on Wednesday. The group was also set to make an appearance on KBS’s “Music Bank” on Friday.

SM Entertainment, the group’s management agency, said it decided to change the group’s comeback schedule in order to prepare for the album’s U.S. release.

“Since we’ve decided to release the album in the U.S., we are changing the group’s schedule to strengthen the worldwide marketing of ‘The Boys,’” the agency said in a statement. “We will release details soon.”

Sources say the album will be released in the middle of the month and that the title track will be released worldwide prior to that.

The song “The Boys” was produced by Teddy Riley, who had worked with Michael Jackson, and will be released in both Korean and English.

Meanwhile, a teaser video of “The Boys” was released on the group’s Web site (girlsgeneration.smtown.com) on Saturday.

소녀시대 컴백연기, "美 앨범 출시 위해"

소녀시대가 정규 3집 발매와 컴백을 연기했다. 3집 앨범의 미국 발매를 결정하면서 마케팅을 강화하려는 이유인 것으로 전해졌다.

지난달 30일 소녀시대 소속사 SM엔터테인먼트(이하 SM)는 "소녀시대의 미국 앨범 발매 결정으로 `The boys`의 전 세계 동시 마케팅을 한층 강화하기 위해 일정을 전략적으로 변경할 예정"이라고 계획을 밝혔다.

소녀시대는 당초 오는 4일 타이틀곡 `더 보이즈`의 한국어· 영어 음원을 공개하고 다음날인 5일 앨범을 공식 발매할 예정이었다.

`더 보이즈`의 작곡가 테디 라일리는 이번 일과 관련해 트위터에 "걱정하지 말라. 150% 노력하고 있다"며 "팬 여러분이 소녀시대를 응원하는 한 그들은 최고다"라는 글을 남겼다.

네티즌들은 "언제든 나오기만 하면 된다" "잘 준비해서 미국에서도 성공하길" "미국진출 성공할 것 같다" 등 격려의 반응을 보였다.
