Actress’ August suicide discovered

Two months after the fact, it has been revealed that actress Han Chae-won killed herself on Aug. 25 at her home in Yeonhui-dong, central Seoul. Han was 31 years old.

The Seoul Seodaemun Police Station announced Saturday that Han appeared to have committed suicide since they discovered no signs of murder at the scene. They did, however, report a suicide note, which said, “I want to die. I’m really sorry for my parents.”

Police also added that Han had been undergoing treatment for depression since 2007 and speculated that her depression stemmed from the fact that she wasn’t a major celebrity.

Han left a message on her Web site in July, saying, “I really don’t want to comment, but I want to stop suffering and crying. This could be solved if I could achieve success, but ...”

Han, whose legal name is Jung Jae-eun, made her TV debut in the KBS drama “Solitude” in 2002 after winning a beauty contest in Gangwon. She also featured in the MBC sitcom “Non-stop 3” in 2003 and made her film debut the following year with “Shinsukki Blues.”

Her career later stalled and in 2009 she released a series of provocative photos that briefly put her back in the spotlight.

Last September she released a single “Ma! Boy,” but it failed to attract widespread attention.

“It seemed she had no financial difficulties,” a police official told Ilgan Sports, the JoongAng Ilbo’s sports daily, on Saturday. “But we have found that she was suffering from her low status as an actress.”

한채원-정다빈 `논스톱3` 출신 여배우 잇따른 자살 `안타까워`

`논스톱3`에 출연했던 한채원이 자살했다. 앞서 같은 작품에 함께 출연했던 정다빈도 자살이라는 극단적인 방법을 택해 큰 충격을 불러일으킨 바 있어 안타까움을 더하고 있다.

8일 오전, 지난 8월 자살한 것으로 알려진 탤런트 한채원(본명 정재은)의 소식이 뒤늦게 전해지며 많은 누리꾼들의 안타까움을 자아냈다.

故 한채원은 2002~2003년에 스타 등용문이었던 MBC 시트콤 `논스톱3`에 출연했으며 당시 괴짜 신입생 역할을 통해 인상적인 연기를 보여줬다.

하지만 故 한채원은 지난 8월 25일 오전 4시 25분께 서울 서대문구 연희동 자택에서 목을 매 숨진 채 발견됐다.

故 한채원은 2007년부터 우울증 치료를 받았던 것으로 알려졌다. 한채원은 자신의 미니홈피에 "정말 노코멘트하고 싶지만…이제 그만 아프고 그만 울고 싶어…세상에선 돈보다 중요한 건 많아… 내가 성공하면 모든 건 해결되지만…참…"이라는 글을 남기며 힘든 마음을 털어놓기도 했다.

또한 故 정다빈은 지난 2007년 2월10일 오전 서울 강남의 한 빌라에서 목을 매 사망했다. 소속사와 유가족의 요청으로 부검이 진행됐지만 자살로 최종 결론이 내려졌다. 고인의 유해는 화장돼 경기도 안성 유토피아 추모관에 안치됐다.

2000년 영화 `단적비연수`에서 최진실의 아역으로 눈길을 끈 故정다빈은 MBC `논스톱3`, `옥탑방 고양이` 등을 통해 큰 인기를 얻은 바 있어 대중에게 충격을 안겼다.

故 정다빈이 자살을 선택한 이유는 우울증, 전 소속사와의 갈등, 오랜만의 연기 복귀에 대한 부담감 등 추측만이 존재할 뿐 확실히 밝혀진 바는 없다.

한채원과 정다빈 등 잇따른 연예인들의 자살 소식에 누리꾼들은 계속해서 메시지를 보내고 있다. 누리꾼들은 "하늘에서는 편했으면 좋겠다", "우울증이라니 너무 안타깝다", "자살이라니, 허탈하다. 자살이라는 극단적인 방법을 선택하면 안된다"라는 등의 반응을 보였다.
