Girls’ Generation delays new release

Girls’ Generation, which had announced a delay in its album release last week, is set to release its new song next Wednesday.

The new title song “The Boys” of the group’s third full-length album will be released through iTunes worldwide and the music video will be released through the group’s official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/smtown) and on Facebook page (www.facebook.com/smtown). The previous release date, which was set for yesterday, was delayed so that the group can prepare for a simultaneous release worldwide.

With this new single, the group is entering into the American music market. Interscope Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group, is planning to release a maxi-single album, according to the group’s agency SM Entertainment yesterday. A maxi-single album is an album that includes more than the usual two single tracks. The exact release date has not yet been announced. Interscope Records also works with many well-known American artists including Lady Gaga, Eminem and the Black Eyed Peas.

The song “The Boys” was produced by Teddy Riley, who worked with Michael Jackson, and will be released in both Korean and English.

The group will have its comeback performance in Korea on Oct. 21 through Broadcaster KBS’s Music Bank.

더불어 유니버셜 뮤직 그룹을 통해 `더 보이즈`가 수록된 음반을 미국뿐만 아니라 유럽, 남미 등 전 세계에 출시하기로 해, 글로벌 팬들의 뜨거운 반응을 예고하고 있다.

또한 미국 앨범 출시 및 전 세계 동시 마케팅을 한층 강화하기 위해 컴백 일정을 변경했던 소녀시대는 신곡 `더 보이즈`의 공개 시기를 오는 19일로 확정, 당일 아이튠즈 등을 통해 전 세계에 동시 공개한다.

특히 19일에는 `더 보이즈`의 뮤직비디오도 SM 공식 유튜브 채널과 페이스북을 통해 전 세계에 첫 선을 보이며, 한국에는 3집 앨범도 정식 출시되어, 10월 19일은 이른바 `소녀시대 DAY`가 될 전망이다.

소녀시대의 신곡 `더 보이즈`는 마이클 잭슨의 프로듀서이자, 세계 3대 프로듀서로 손꼽히는 테디 라일리의 작품으로, 전 세계에 어필할 만한 세련된 비트와 사운드, 멜로디를 지닌 곡인 만큼, 소녀시대와 테디 라일리의 특별한 만남은 글로벌 음악 팬들을 매료시킬 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

한편 소녀시대는 19일 `The Boys`의 전 세계 동시 공개를 시작으로 활발한 활동을 펼치며, 오는 21일 KBS2 `뮤직뱅크`를 통해 화려한 컴백 무대를 선사한다.
