[Sponsored Report] Korea hoping to elevate status of its lifts

Korea has been granted the opportunity to host the ISO/TC 178 meeting on Lift Standards next year.

According to the Korea Elevator Safety Institute, the decision to hold the meeting in Korea was decided at the 2011 ISO and CEN Meeting held on Oct 24 to Nov.1 in Moscow.

This is the result of the strong will of Kim Nam-deuk, president of Korea Elevator Safety Institute, who seemingly impressed the international members of the committee through his many years of networking.

The big success of the Korea Lift Safety Expo 2010, hosted by the Korea Elevator Safety Institute, also made a good impression on the international members of the committee.

With the confirmation of the hosting country the meeting will be held in April and October next year respectively.

Kim said, “Hosting the 2012 ISO/TC 178 meeting on Lift Standards will raise the status of Korea’s lift industry.”

He added “I will do my best to promote new standards of elevator safety and the country’s elevator industry.”

Through the meeting, lift experts from more than 20 countries will participate and it is expected to raise billions of won and have an impact on overseas awareness of Korea’s lift safety and the country’s status.
