Gangwon announces three free K-pop concerts

Gangwon will host “Hallyu Week Concert” to commemorate the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Gangwon announced on Nov. 30 that it would co-host a free, three-day concert with the Korea Tourism Organization. The event will kick off on Dec. 2 and conclude on Dec. 4 with each night’s festivities running from 7 to 9 p.m.

The lineup includes popular groups such as 2AM, After School, U-KISS, Beast, Kim Kyu-jong, G.NA, 4Minute, Z:EA, Sistar, Davichi and Miss A.
The event is expected to bring around 10,000 domestic and international visitors to the province. It is estimated that half of the tourists will be from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and greater Southeast Asia.

A representative from Gangwon’s marketing department said, “This is the first official event to be held by the province after Pyeongchang won the bid for the Winter Olympics. Through K-pop, we hope to raise awareness for the region as a destination for winter sports and vacations.”
