Big Bang members open up about scandals

Idol group Big Bang’s G-Dragon made an official apology to fans, and fellow member Daesung opened up about his time off since his car accident during the 2011 YG Family Concert on Dec. 4.

At the concert, which marked the 15th anniversary of YG Entertainment, G-Dragon apologized to fans for smoking marijuana. In October, authorities brought charges against G-Dragon after he was accused of smoking marijuana at a club in Japan, but the indictment was later dropped by prosecutors.

“I’m so sorry for making you worry. From now on, I won’t get in trouble again, and I’ll repay you for your love and support with great music,” G-Dragon said in front of 13,000 fans.

The Dec. 4 performance was the first time in seven months that all members of the group were united on stage following the scandals involving two members. In May, Daesung was charged – but later acquitted of - running over a motorcyclist who had already been hit by another car.

“It’s been a while. The time that I had away from the media has taught me again how precious the gift of music is. I will remember this lesson every time I stand up on the stage,” Daesung said.

Another entertainer who made a comeback at the performance was Tablo, who performed for the first time in a year and seven months. The hip-hop singer is the latest addition to YG Entertainment’s roster after he joined the agency in September.

Other performers at the concert included 2NE1, Jinusean, SE7EN, PSY and Gummy. Similar concerts will also take place in Osaka, Japan, from Jan. 7-8, and in Saitama, Japan, from Jan. 21-22.
