Siwon ranks No. 1 on Twitter

Siwon of boy band Super Junior has become the first Korean celebrity to have more than a million followers on Twitter.

On Sunday, Siwon exceeded the one-million mark in terms of followers. At 12 p.m. the number of those following the singer was 1,009,123. Siwon has been an avid user of the social networking site in an effort to communicate with fans from all over the world.

But Siwon is not the only one from the group who uses Twitter, as all Super Junior members are known for using the site. Donghae has 84,000 followers, Kim Hee-chul has 78,000, Lee Teuk has 65,000, Yesung has 61,000, Eun Hyuk has 59,000, Shindong has 57,000, Ryeowook has 53,000 and Kyuhyun has 47,000.

Recently, the band was singled out by the Mashable Web site for being fourth on a list of the top 10 trending musical artists for the year following Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers. The band took to the stage at the Osaka Kyocera Dome in Japan on Saturday and Sunday, performing for a total of 80,000 at its “Super Show 4” concert.
