IU to hold first concert in Japan

K-pop singer IU will hold her first live concert in Japan on Jan. 24.

EMI Music Japan, the agency which will orchestrate IU’s Japanese activities, confirmed on Dec. 14 that IU will take to the stage at Tokyo’s Bunkamura Orchard Hall for the IU Japan Premium Special Live concert. The venue has hosted many classical performances, and the teenage singer will become the first K-pop artist to perform there.

“The venue was chosen as it was deemed to be the best stage for showcasing the vocal talent of the star,” EMI Japan said.

The stage performance will mark IU’s live debut in Japan and is a special event to commemorate the 18-year-old singer’s first Korean album, “IU,” that was released in Japan on Dec. 14. The guests for the concert in January were selected from a pool of fans who bought the album in Japan.

The album features the song “Nagging” – a duet between IU and Seulong from boy band 2AM. IU will also release an official Japanese debut single in February, and the concert will serve as a preview before she kicks off her official promotional activities in Japan.
