Chris Golightly to audition for America’s ‘X-Factor’

American contestant Chris Golightly from the hit Korean signing audition show “Super Star K 3” had announced that he will have a crack at “The X-Factor.” On Jan. 4, Golightly posted on his Facebook page, “I’ve always wanted to move Simon Cowell from the ‘X-Factor’. Thus I will try out for the show.”

The afro-haired contestant rose to fame in Korea by becoming one of the top 11 singers on the third season of “Super Star K 3” in 2011. Prior to his participation on the show, the singer-composer had penned songs for the Korean girl group Jewelry.

While on the hit Korean show, the American singer also revealed that he was one of the top 24 contestants on “American Idol” in 2010 before disqualification. He also met John Park on the American singing show and became friends. The two both tried their luck in Korea, where both parties amassed a large fan base. Park made his debut in Korea a little earlier than Golightly as he was a part of “Super Star K 2” in 2010.

X-Factor is a renowned prime-time audition show on the Fox network. The winner is awarded a $5 million recording contract with Sony Music. Simon Cowell is one of the celebrity judges on the show and is best-known for his frank and sometimes acid critiques of the contestants.
