TVXQ prepares to kick off 11-city tour of Japan this month

K-pop duo TVXQ is preparing to kick-off its tour of Japan on Jan. 18 at the Yokohama Arena.

The tour will continue until March with 24 concerts in 11 cities including Nagoya, Fukuoka, Nigata, Sapporo, Hiroshima, Fukui and Osaka.

The tour, called “Live Tour 2012: Tone,” originally consisted of 20 concerts, but four more concerts - two at the Tokyo Dome and two at the Osaka Kyocera Dome - were added due to demand from fans.

Organizers expect the tour to be seen by an estimated 450,000 concertgoers.

The boy band is extremely popular in Japan and, according to MSN Japan, the group came first on a list of the 50 most searched celebrities.

The band recently made an appearance at the New Year’s Eve music concert NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in Japan. Its performance at the concert garnered viewer ratings of 42.6 percent, a testament to just how popular the Korean duo is in Japan.
