Big Bang takes back Japanese spotlight after scandal

YG Family Entertainment celebrated its 15th anniversary with a concert extravaganza that took place in front of 80,000 fans from Jan. 7-8 in Osaka, Japan.

And it was an especially big night for boy band Big Bang, which took to the stage at Kyocera Dome for the first time in Japan since two of its members were engulfed in scandal.

Daesung was involved in a car accident last May that left a motorcyclist dead, though it was unclear who was responsible for the death as the biker had already been hit by another car before Daesung ran him over. G-Dragon got himself in hot water by smoking marijuana at a club in Japan last October. Since then, the group had temporarily ceased its promotional activities in Japan.

At the concert, Se7en also took to the stage to promote a mini-album, which will be released in Japan on Jan. 18. The solo artist performed the title track of new album “Somebody Else” and another song, titled “Better Together.”

Artists Jinusean, 2NE1, Psy, Gummy and Tablo performed as well.

The final leg of the YG Family Concert series will take place at Saitama Super Arena from Jan. 21-22.
