Thai fans pick Kim Bum as Valentine's Day favorite

Kim Bum, who was recently diagnosed with arthritis, got what was probably a well-needed boost from his Thai fans ahead of Valentine's Day last week, who showed that they still think he is irresistible despite any medical problems.

He was the most popular fantasy valentine among Thai fans choosing from Hallyu stars on a popular television program there.

Kim's agency said the star is immensely popular in Thailand, pointing to the hundreds of fans who followed him around during his four-day visit to Thailand from Feb. 9 to 13.

"The fans followed Kim's van around everywhere he went, confirming just how popular he is over there," a representative from King Kong Entertainment said.

Yet Kim has also appeared in the news on a more somber note recently. On Feb. 12, his agency announced that the 22-year-old actor was suffering from degenerative arthritis after working out and dieting too much.

He was diagnosed with osteoarthritis after the extreme dieting he did to shed 11 kilograms (24 pounds) for his role in "Padam Padam." It was also reported that a car accident in 2009 may have played a part in Kim's recent diagnosis.
However, the agency maintained that the affliction is not severe and that Kim is able to walk and perform general tasks without assistance.
