A month after opening, ‘Frozen’ still Korea’s top film

There’s no cooling down Disney’s “Frozen. One month after its release, the animated tale once again topped the Korean box office last weekend, pulling in 747,416 admissions and bringing its 31-day total to 8.9 million admissions.

It has now made 71.8 billion won, or $67 million.

Last week’s No. 2, “Miss Granny,” also continues to do well, holding strong in second place yet again, pulling in 680,973 admissions.

It was expected to top 7 million admissions as of yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood blockbuster “Robocop” debuted at No. 3 with 508,955 admissions on 627 screens.

Nos. 4 to 6 all went to local films. The new movie “Venus Talk” debuted in fourth with 272,602 admissions.

“Another Family,” a story about a family’s legal conflict with the nation’s biggest conglomerate, landed in fourth. It had 96,262 admissions from 169 screens, bringing its total admissions to 358,685. “Apostle” came in sixth.

The Japanese animated film “Detective Conan: The Private Eyes’ Requiem,” was the No. 7 film, and the Korean romance “Man in Love” drew in 57,609 admissions, enough for eighth.

The Warner Bros. animated film “The Lego Movie” may have been the top film in the United States last weekend, but in Korea it only reached the ninth spot, with 34,951 admissions, bringing its 10-day total to just 164,538.
