Ryu Seung-ryong

Actor Ryu Seung-ryong has confirmed his appearance in the new costume drama movie “Dorihwaga” (working title), according to local reports yesterday.

The film, directed by Lee Jong-pil of “Born to Sing” (2013), is based on the real story of famous pansori (traditional narrative song) writer Shin Jae-hyo in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The film depicts the behind-the-scenes story of Shin writing a short song for his favorite disciple, Chae-sun.

Bae Suzy from girl group Miss A was confirmed to play Chae-sun. Since the movie marks Suzy’s return to the big screen for the first time in two years after “Architect 101,” which earned her the title of “the nation’s first love,” the public has high expectations.

Ryu is currently filming the thriller “Guest” (working title). “Dorihwaga” will start shooting in the latter half of the year with the aim of opening next year.
