G.O.D., “Chapter 8”, Label: CJ E&M, Genre: Ballad, Dance

After a 12-years hiatus, g.o.d is finally back as an integrated group with the brand new studio album “Chapter 8,” which is imbued with the authenticity that earned the group its immense fame back in the ’90s. Over the course of 12 tracks, “Chapter 8” will definitely trigger the nostalgia of long-awaiting fans by featuring versatile spin-offs of songs from the past and sticking to the group’s unique story-telling lyrical style.

The album’s instrumental opener “5+4+1+5=15” is a collaboration with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, which rearranged the sounds of the group’s best past tracks.

“Sky Blue Promise” and “The Story of Our Lives” summarize the album with the former sounding like an ode to fans, with lyrics like “sorry to keep you waiting” on top of familiar melodies derived from “Sky Blue Balloons.” The five are obstinately clinging to the original style of the group’s music up to the point where it may sound like a platitude. However, this was still the right direction as these reassuring sounds were exactly what the public was expecting.
