Petit France, a mock town decorated to feel like a French village in Gyeonggi, is adorned with lights for the winter holiday season. [Petit France]

A theme park in Gyeonggi that looks like French village will begin its winter festival Friday.

Petit France will hold the “2nd Little Prince Starry Festival” throughout the winter. The amusement park opened in 2008 based on the popular novel “Le Petit Prince” by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

To provide a unique experience for visitors, the venue will be adorned with LED lights and special light bulbs from France. During the winter event, the park will stay open until 9 p.m. every day so families can enjoy the nighttime ambiance. One of the main highlights is a gigantic light structure shaped like a star.

If you want to enjoy the feeling of open space away from the bustle city life, climb up the stairs to get to the top of the hillside. There you can observe a nightscape of stars harmonizing with Cheongpyeong reservoir.

Away from the cold weather, the houses in the mock town are decorated with realistic props for visitors to enjoy. The Cote d’Azur gallery has added a wooden doll that is over 250 years old to its collection. There is also a new doll collection showing the history of famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven on display.

There will be many performances in and outside the buildings, including dance, a puppet show, a magic show and instrumental performances of popular tunes and soundtrack music.

The “2nd Little Prince Starry Festival” will last until Feb. 28 at Petit France in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi. The entrance fee is 8,000 won ($6.80) for adults, 6,000 won for teenagers and 5,000 won for children.

To get to Petit France, go to Gapyeong Station on the Gyeongchun Line, and then take a Gapyeong city tour bus.
