Forum a new platform for educators
The new platform will gather foreign-language educators from across Asia to “share ideas and debate the organizational vision, policies and future development direction” implemented by each school in the region, Kim In-chul, the president of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, said in his opening remarks.
The forum aims to enable participants to seek “academic convergence and take on new exchanges,” he added.
Wednesday’s inauguration ceremony was attended by Ambassadors Qiu Guohong of China, Koro Bessho of Japan, Pham Huu Chi of Vietnam and Baasanjav Ganbold of Mongolia.
Other key participants include Han Zhen, the chairman of the university council at Beijing Foreign Studies University; and Presidents Hirotaka Tateishi of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies; Chung Hae-lin of Busan University of Foreign Studies; Kim Soo-il of Daegu University of Foreign Studies; Begz Chuluundorj of the University of the Humanities in Mongolia; Do Tuan Minh of the University of Languages and International Studies in Vietnam; and Ganisher Rakhimov of Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages in Uzbekistan.
Vice Presidents Li Yang of Shanghai International Studies University; Toshiki Kumagai of Kyoto University of Foreign Studies; and Cho Jang-youn of Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies also took part.
