Jang Hyuk lands lead drama role

Actor Jang Hyuk will play the lead role in the KBS drama “Beautiful Mind,” the show’s public relations company said Tuesday.

The actor is reportedly set to play neurosurgeon Lee Young-oh in the drama.

Lee is an insightful person with exceptional skills as a surgeon but is a very conceited individual who considers himself superior to other doctors.

The drama centers on the surgeon, who eventually grows out of his arrogance after being involved in the mysterious deaths of his patients.

“We expect that Jang’s fundamentally sound acting skills will let him pull off his role very well,” an official with the drama said.

Having debuted in the TV drama “Model” (1997), the 39-year-old actor has 19 years of acting experience under his belt.

Some of the dramas and films in which the actor has shined most include the action flick “Volcano High School” (2001), the historical action TV drama “The Slave Hunters” (2010) and the TV spy drama “Iris 2” (2013).
