Texas Ranger Choo Shin-soo achieves first three-hit game

Texas Rangers’ Choo Shin-soo smashed three hits on Monday against the Boston Red Sox.

Batting first, playing out in the right field, Choo went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, extending his multi-hit games to four. This is also the first time Choo had three hits in a single game. His batting average increased from .237 to .270 as of Monday.

Choo had a promising start from early on, hitting a single at the bottom of the first inning when he cranked a 90-mile-per-hour two-seam fastball by Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz to center. Choo drove home two plays later when Nomar Mazara singled on a ground ball to tally the first point for the Rangers. By the end of the first inning, the Rangers took a 3-0 lead.

Although Choo grounded out during his second at-bat, he smashed yet another single at the bottom of the fifth, sending the ball to a pinch between the fielders on the right side of the field.

After being tagged out during the fifth inning, Choo doubled at the bottom of the seventh and drove home three plays later. The Rangers defeated the Red Sox 6-2 at the end of the day.
