The 2016 J Global-Chatham House Forum, an international gathering that provides a venue for diplomats and academics to tackle peace and cooperation issues in East Asia, will kick off on Oct. 8 in Seoul. Set to run three days this year under the theme “Strategy and Vision for 21st Century Eurasia: Enhancing Asian-European Cooperation,” the forum will be held at the Westin Chosun Seoul hotel in Jung District, central Seoul. Readers can join on Oct. 10 as audience members.

The annual convention is organized by the JoongAng Ilbo, JTBC and Yumin Cultural Foundation in partnership with the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), an influential global policy think tank based in London.

Key topics will include Eurasian cooperation through the formation of an economic bloc, inter-city exchange, regional economic initiatives and the sharing of human and social capital. Panelists will also discuss how to confront strategic and political risk in East Asia. Participants will include Stephen Green, former group chairman of HSBC Holdings; Robin Niblett, the director of Chatham House; Anne Krueger, former first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund; Francois Godement, director of the Asia and China Programme in the European Council on Foreign Relations; and Hu Angang, professor at Tsinghua University.
