1) “In the 34-year history of USA TODAY…”
On Sept. 30, USA Today, the American daily newspaper, expressed their opinion about a presidential candidate for the first time.

2) “Trump is 'unfit for the presidency’”
Donald Trump is “unfit for the presidency,” according to a unanimous decision from the USA Today editorial board.

3) “Trump has betrayed fundamental commitments made by all presidents since the end of World War II,” they wrote.
Then, what are those fundamental commitments?
- Unwavering support for NATO allies
- Steadfast opposition to Russian aggression
- Absolute certainty that the United States will make good on its debts
Trump has expressed troubling admiration for authoritarian leaders and scant regard for constitutional protections.

4) They also gave Eight reasons Trump should not be President.”
1. He is erratic.
2. He is ill-equipped to be commander in chief.
3. He traffics in prejudice.
4. His business career is checkered.
5. He isn’t leveling with the American people.
6. He speaks recklessly.
7. He has coarsened the national dialogue.
8. He’s a serial liar.

5) New York Times also published an editorial in objection to Trump on Sept. 25th, a day ahead of the first presidential debate.
“Why Donald Trump Should Not Be President”
A financial wizard who can bring executive magic to government?
A straight talker who tells it like it is?
An expert negotiator who can fix government and overpower other world leaders?
A change agent for the nation and the world?

6) Three months before, the Washington Post harshly criticized Trump after they conducted an exclusive interview.
“Trump is disqualified to be president”
“Trump is a threat to America”

7) Of course, Trump is not one who would just lie back and take these criticisms.
He held an urgent press conference and said bluntly,
“Look, I find the press to be extremely dishonest. I find the political press to be unbelievably dishonest. I will say that. Like this nasty guy from ABC News.”

8) He has repeatedly attacked the New York Times as “a dying newspaper.”
“Why doesn't the failing @nytimes write the real story on the Clintons and women? The media is TOTALLY dishonest!”
This tweet was in response to a New York Times report on Trump’s degrading treatment of women.

9) Trump hacked apart the Washington Post, saying that they habitually evade taxes.
He once criticized CNN as “highly unprofessional television” as well.
“So What?”
However, the American media hardly showed any reaction toward his remarks.

10) On Sept. 26th, the day of the first presidential debate, journalists did something aggressive against Trump.
They fact-checked every assertion made by each candidate in real-time.
It turned out that Trump lied 16 times while Hillary didn’t lie once.

11) The American media seems to have made its choice – Trump cannot become president.
It takes a special situation for USA Today’s editorial board to break with its 34 years of silence on presidential elections.
