How can we trust such prosecutors?

테스트

1) Woo Byung-woo, a former presidential secretary, finally appeared at the Public Prosecutors’ Office. It was 75 days since a special probe had been set up regarding corruption allegations against him. What a long investigation this is turning out to be.

2) Woo’s belated appearance was not the only evidence that the prosecutors are going easy on him. The prosecutors informed reporters only a day before Woo’s arrival to the prosecution. They even answered carelessly when asked about the details of his attendance, as if the case were not their duty.

3) Woo’s attitude in front of the public left many dumbfounded.
His arrogance was revealed as he stared at a reporter who asked him a question; the context in which the “Questioning the King” incident became visible.

4) A photo taken during the investigation stirred up even more anger.
In the photo, Woo was casually smiling with his arms crossed, while the two prosecutors standing before him looked deferential with their both hands folded.
Who would be able to distinguish between defendant and prosecutors in this photo?

5) Yoon Gab-geun, head of the High Prosecutors' Office, is alleged to have had tea time with Woo.
This is why suspicions of “summoning the king” and “questioning the king” are being raised.

6) Yoon and Woo were judicial apprentice companions. People pointed out that Yoon investigating Woo is nothing different from setting the fox to keep the geese.

7) Another reason why Woo was able to smile –
He is not being investigated under suspicion of being involved in the so-called “Choi-gate.”
This time, Woo was charged with embezzlement of funds and abuse of authority.
Woo was only questioned on whether he has embezzled money from a company run by his family and whether he wielded his power to get his son an easy job for his military service.

8) A day after Woo’s summoning, chief prosecutor Kim Soo-nam reprimanded the team investigating Woo Monday for the controversy over ‘”questioning for the king.” The prosecutors belatedly said they will investigate him additionally over dereliction of duty pertaining to Choi-gate.

9) What’s more on the belated attitude of the prosecutors?
When the prosecutors raided places in connection with the Woo investigation, they found nothing at all at the eight places they searched.
Even worse, they did not even conduct searches of his office at the Blue House, home or his cell phone. It seems obvious that the investigation is going easy on Woo.

10) Who is Woo Byung-woo?
Woo, a former presidential secretary, had served in key positions at elite organizations, including the Ministry of Justice and the central and supreme prosecutors’ offices.
He used to be dubbed the “butcher of special probes,” as he was in charge of major investigations when he worked at the central investigation department.
What the prosecution has showed us only deepens public suspicion that his authority over the prosecution still stands.

11) “Woo Byung-woo’s team is investigating Woo Byung-woo.”
At this point, with its integrity being questioned, how could the prosecution win over public trust unless they thoroughly reveal everything about Choi-gate as well as Woo’s individual allegations?

12) The summoning and questioning of the “king” of the prosecution is highly likely to cause public distrust in the next prosecution investigation. We demand chief Prosecutor Kim Soo-nam issue an inspection of the team investigating Woo. The so-called “Woo Byung-woo team,” who are now considered the internal enemies in the prosecution, must be eradicated to uncover the recent political scandal regarding Choi’s meddling in state affairs.
