‘Produce 48’ coming in May: Mnet
Mnet’s highly anticipated new singing competition program “Produce 48” will premiere in May.
A source from the broadcast company spoke to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, on Tuesday regarding the upcoming show, saying, “All the contestants for the program have been chosen and they will begin recording next month.”
The program is different from the hit Mnet program “Produce 101” in that they have chosen female contestants from both Korea and Japan to participate in the competition. The show will feature contestants from several agencies who participated in the first two seasons of “Produce 101,” as well as trainees from new companies.
The trainees will compete for spots in a group that will be formed at the end of the show.
The show is a collaboration between Mnet and Japanese producer Yasushi Akimoto. The program was officially announced during the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Japan.
