Bringing art to the palace
Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) director Bartomeu Mari, left, and the Cultural Heritage Administration’s Deoksu Palace office head Oh Sung-hwan pose at Deoksu Palace in central Seoul on Thursday after signing an agreement to make the Deoksugung Project a biannual event. MMCA aims to begin the project in 2019. The contemporary art show will be housed in the buildings and courtyards of the palace. The Deoksugung Project exhibitions, held in 2012 and 2017, were acclaimed by art critics and the general public. They attracted 350,000 viewers in 2012 and 700,000 viewers last year. [MMCA]
