Starbucks to hire more employees with disabilities

July 13,2018
Starbucks Korea announced Thursday it will hire 100 new employees with disabilities each year.

The coffee chain and the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute (Koddi) signed an agreement Wednesday to work together to meet the hiring target. Koddi is a government office that works to create jobs for people with disabilities.

Starbucks will offer internships to people who have received vocational training at Koddi’s partner institutes. The internship program will last from three to six months for barista training. Those who pass the final assessment will receive a permanent position.

As of late June, Starbucks Korea has 284 employees with disabilities working at branches nationwide. Among them, 48 people hold managerial positions.
