Naver’s Smart Lens learns what cash, wine looks like

Naver’s visual search service Smart Lens can now recognize currencies and wine, according to the company on Friday.

The portal giant’s in-app service launched in July last year helps users find information by scanning objects and shopping through the camera on a mobile phone.

The service can now recognize 50 different currencies including the U.S. dollar, Japanese yen and Chinese yuan and show the currency exchange rate for both selling and buying the currency in Korean won. The currency exchange data is provided by KEB Hana Bank.

It can also recognize roughly 9.5 million different wines and provide users related information such as the type and where it was produced. The information is provided by wine marketplace app Vivino.
