Romance follows a prince with amnesia
“100 Days My Prince,” an upcoming television drama set in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), tells of the unlikely marriage between a prince who loses his memory and the country’s oldest single woman, who doesn’t know her husband’s true identity and thinks of him as useless.
Do Kyung-soo of the popular K-pop EXO, plays the prince, and Nam Ji-hyun will play the bride, Hong Sim. The romantic comedy centers on the prince’s 100-day adventure outside the palace before he regains his memory.
Since this is Do’s first role in a period drama, the singer-actor said he was very nervous in the beginning.
“I accepted the role because it was a new challenge for me,” he told reporters during a press event in Seoul on Tuesday. “Acting in hanbok [traditional Korean attire] and speaking in an accent were a bit hard. They were new experiences. I became comfortable after talking a lot with the director and writer.”
Nam said her multidimensional character attracted her to the show.
“The character has many interesting aspects,” she said. “As I practiced a lot with Do before actual shooting, we became comfortable around each other. I had a fun time acting with him.”
The show, which will air in the Monday-Tuesday slot, premieres at 9:30 p.m. on Monday on tvN.
