Jeong Seul-gi wins first KLPGA tour event in Yongin

Jeong Seul-gi won the 8th KG Edaily Ladies Open with KFC at Sunning Point Country Club in Yongin on Sunday.

Jeong, who started the final round three shots behind the leader Kim Ji-yeong, made four birdies and two bogeys in the final round to finish the tournament one shot ahead of the runners-up. Jeong quickly jumped up to tie for second with a birdie on the par-4 fourth, and with a birdie on par-3 12th, she took the sole lead.

Jeong added another birdie on the par-5 14th to extend her lead by three. Although she made bogeys on the 16th and 17th, Jeong managed to finish her round with a par to maintain her lead and successfully avoided a six-way sudden death playoff.

This was Jeong’s first-ever win on the KLPGA Tour.

Lee Chung-yong transfers to 2. Bundesliga’s VfL Bochum

Korea’s top class footballers are trying to make career breakthroughs by playing with Germany’s second division clubs.

Veteran midfielder Lee Chung-yong joined VfL Bochum after signing a one-year deal, with option of extending another season, on Thursday.

Lee is hoping he can make a turnaround in his declining European career with Bochum after having poor seasons in the English Premier League (EPL).

The 30-year-old, who has 79 caps and played in two World Cups, started his European career in 2009 when he signed with EPL side Bolton Wanderers. Lee had impressive seasons with Bolton until he sustained a broken leg during a pre-season match in 2011.

Bolton later got relegated to the second division, and Lee was able to return to the EPL in 2015 by signing with Crystal Palace. But he failed to earn a starter’s spot with the London club.
