Lotte, CJ heads talk business with Indonesian president

The heads of Lotte and CJ Group discussed business opportunities with Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit to Seoul on Monday.

From Lotte, Vice Chairman Hwang Kag-gyu was present at the meeting along with corporate heads from Lotte Chemical and Lotte Mart. Hwang explained Lotte’s businesses and investments in Indonesia and asked for support from the Indonesian government.

Having first launched business in the country in 2008, one of its largest ongoing projects there at the moment is the construction of a Lotte Chemical complex worth 4 trillion won ($3.5 billion).

A group of CJ’s corporate heads led by Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik also had a meeting with Widodo. CJ started its business in Indonesia earlier in 1988 and has invested 1.3 billion won in total.

According to CJ, the president requested the company expand investments in cultural projects and bio material.
