BTS takes home nine MGA awards

BTS swept nine trophies at the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards (MGA) in Incheon on Tuesday night.

The inaugural annual awards created four main prizes - Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Digital Album of the Year and Best-selling Artist of the Year - and BTS took home two - Artist of the Year and Digital Album of the Year for “Love Yourself: Answer.”

They also won Best Group, Best Male Dance Performance, Genie Music Popularity Award, Best Music Video and Best Style.

During the ceremony, BTS performed “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and “Fake Love” with American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth.

“We thank ARMY who gave this prize. We always wanted to have a good influence on people via our music. It was an honor to be able to deliver our message to the world with this album,” member Suga said after receiving the best digital album award.

Meanwhile, BTS ranked 61st on the Billboard 200 main albums chart for “Love Yourself: Answer,” down from the previous week’s 50th, according to the latest chart released Tuesday.

The group has stayed on the chart for the 10th straight week since it debuted atop the list in September. Yonhap
