Posco is actively working to nurture the future of our children and the youth.

Posco provides “Do Dream” and “Posco Rainbow” programs to children and the youth who need help and supports young people who are having difficulties with unemployment. It also builds youth share houses to help residence problems. Posco has rolled up its sleeves to offer various solutions to solve the social problems facing future generations.

Posco 1% Foundation’s “Do Dream” project provides career development and financial support for the independence of children and the youth who live in or out of day care facilities. The “Posco Rainbow” program supports young people who have moved to Korea in adapting to society by providing scholarships.

If selected as a “Do Dream” scholarship recipient, the scholars will receive regular education once a month in eight areas, such as the economy and social life. Employee mentoring will also be provided. Posco is running the “Do Dream” project for 78 children and young people nationwide this year.

In addition, depending on the profession they decide upon, such as reporter or civil servant, career development and job training expenses of up to 5 million won ($4,460) a year will be given to them. There are also scholars who are participating in ICT Polytech Institute of Korea vocational training course to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution.

“Posco Rainbow” aims to be a close friend to young people with diverse backgrounds and help them achieve their dreams. It provides vocational education expenses to young people who have immigrated to Korea and provides a variety of programs to help them adjust to Korea, such as Korean cultural experience activities.

In addition, the Posco 1% Sharing Foundation built a youth share house to provide shelter to young people who are facing difficulties regarding residence. The Youth Share House, built by Posco in Seodaemun District in September, is a 110-pyeong (3,914-square-foot), five-story, multifamily residential building.

In addition, Posco is actively supporting 5,500 young people in the next five years to create jobs and start-ups. There are three types of employment support programs: “AI Big Data Academy,” “Corporate Practical Employment Education” and “Incubating School for Business Start-ups.” People who completed the course can find positions at Posco Group or other companies, or they can start their own business. The entire course will be held at the camp, and accommodation will be provided. The students will receive allowances of 50,000 won to 1,000,000 won to help them focus on education.

The “AI Big Data Academy” specializes in artificial intelligence education. It has produced about 44,000 graduates online and 1,000 graduates offline for the first time as one of the leading companies in Korea in the area. It is focused on cultivating 200 people every year for five years to create a total of 1,000 experts.

The “Corporate Practical Employment Education” is a course that reflects the wishes of college students who want to a get job related to education directly from Posco. The “Incubating School for Business Start-ups” is a program that supports successful start-ups in the preparatory stage for a month by educating them on essentials such as financial management, investment, funding and market development.

As a good corporate citizen, Posco is planning to expand its programs to solve the various social problems faced by children and young people, and aims to support the independence of future leaders.
