Gov’t plan makes public transport more accessible

The Ministry of Science and ICT revised regulations to implement a system that helps people with difficulty getting on and off public buses.

The revision comes into effect from today.

The government is going to install devices that allow people to insert the number of the bus they are trying to take and the type of physical impairment or other difficulty they have in getting on and off buses at stops. The information will be delivered to drivers of incoming buses so they can be prepared for the customers at least one or two stops before.

The government revised existing regulation on airwaves so that it can use spare airwaves to support the new system.

The Science Ministry said it expects the new system will enable everyone to easily use public transportation in a statement Wednesday.
