K-pop stars hobbled by injuries

A spate of injuries have taken some of Korea’s biggest stars out of action. Mark of boy band GOT7, Wheein of girl group Mamamoo and Hong Joo-chan of boy band Golden Child will go on temporary breaks due to injuries, their agencies announced Friday.

JYP Entertainment posted an official letter on their website saying, “Mark has hurt his leg and will not be attending his schedules due to the injury.”

Wheein also recently sprained her ankle and will be performing seated for the time being, said her agency RBW.

“We thought that the performance in Vietnam would be too much for her, but the singer insisted that she would like to join the local fans. She will be performing while sitting down, as recommended by the doctor.”

Hong of Golden Child recently injured his left leg during a dance practice and has been told that he needs to rest.

“We thought that the well-being of our artist is of the utmost importance, and so decided that [Hong] will go on a break after discussions with his family and doctors,” said his agency Woollim Entertainment.
