Man claims assault at Seungri’s club

A 29-year-old man named Kim Sang-gyo was assaulted in November by staff working at Burning Sun, a club in southern Seoul owned by Big Bang’s Seungri, MBC Newsdesk reported Monday evening.

According to the report, Kim claims he was beaten by the club’s director, surnamed Jang, and that staff members helped Jang by holding Kim down.

Kim called the police after the men left and headed back into the club. But 10 minutes after police arrived and talked with the manager, Kim was handcuffed and taken to a police station.

The police didn’t take the time to look at surveillance cameras or even enter the club, according to Kim.

Kim uploaded his story to an online community site named Bobae Dream on Dec. 14, and claimed he had simply tried to help someone.

“A woman, who was being sexually harassed, hid behind me, holding my shoulders, and when I tried to ask for help from the bodyguards, the guards and their friends started beating me up,” he wrote.

In the post, he claimed he was also beaten by the police at the station, and posted pictures of his injured face as evidence.

“I have been ordered to come in for questioning, because Burning Sun’s director filed for defamation,” Kim wrote on social media on Jan. 26.

When MBC called the club and the police station, the club stated that Kim had sexually harassed someone, while the police asserted Kim was obstructing business operations.

The police are currently looking into the case.

While neither YG Entertainment nor Seungri have commented on the matter, the singer was reportedly at the club on the day of the assault.
