Amorepacific to start selling Laneige line in Europe

Amorepacific will start offering its Laneige line in Europe from April, the company announced Wednesday.

It will be making 20 key products available. Water Sleeping Mask, a facial moisturizing cream, will be included in the rollout. The products will be sold at 800 Sephora stores in 18 countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal.

Amorepacific first took Laneige abroad, to Hong Kong in 2002, and has expanded its overseas business ever since. The brand is available in Asia, North America and Oceania.

The company hopes to secure European customers as K-beauty gains increasing recognition.

According to research group Euromonitor International, sales of cosmetics in Europe totaled 93.4 billion euros ($105.2 billion) in 2017, 22 percent of the global cosmetics market.

Amorepacific has been gradually expanding ties with Europe over the past several years. In 2011, the company acquired perfume brand Goutal Paris, and launched a shop at Galeries Lafayette, a high-end French department store. It was the first for a Korean cosmetics brand to have a presence there.
