BTS leaves for U.S. ahead of release

테스트

Two days ahead of the highly anticipated release of its new album, K-pop world stars BTS left for the United States late Wednesday to premiere and promote their latest music.

Three BTS members - RM, Jin and J-Hope - uploaded selfies on the official BTS Twitter account, with a message “We will be back safely.”

On Friday evening, the band will release “Map of the Soul: Persona,” the opener of their latest music series and premiere the album on the show “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday.

The album has already shown signs of bringing another musical success for BTS, having topped the Amazon online store’s CDs & Vinyl sales for nearly a month since preorders started last month.

The music video of the new album’s intro track, “Persona,” uploaded in late March, has garnered more than 28 million YouTube views so far while the first teaser of the main track, “Boy With Luv,” has collected 24 million views in less than four days.

BTS dropped a second teaser of “Boy With Luv,” featuring American singer Halsey, on Thursday morning, showing that the music video is a homage to the iconic film “Singin’ in the Rain.”

The 28-second teaser video showed BTS members in a theater lobby with posters for “Singin’ in the Rain” on the wall.

Other backdrops used in the teaser video - a retro-style concert stage and dance hall - are also reminiscent of the 1952 film.

The beats and melodies of the song as well as the visual effects are redolent of disco music, brimming with high energy and playfulness.

Following their American premiere, BTS is scheduled to hold a global news conference back home on April 17.

After that, they will resume their “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world stadium tour in May, traveling to cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Sao Paulo in Brazil, London, Paris and Osaka in Japan.
