Blackpink debut at Coachella

Girl group Blackpink left its mark on the Coachella international music festival by becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform there.

On April 12, the quartet made its debut at the festival in Indio, California, bombarding the crowd on the scene with 13 songs over an hour.

According to Billboard, the crowd spilled out to nearby food vendors where “the air was positively charged with excitement.” When the group’s latest song “Kill This Love” was performed, the crowd yelled “Blackpink in your area!” in unison.

The LA Times praised the girls’ music as “a waterfront of modern hip-hop, EDM, synth ballads and even heavy rock.”

With the success of their first appearance at Coachella, the band will perform again on April 19 for the festival’s second weekend.
