Park Yu-chun meets with police

Park Yu-chun, an actor and member of boy band JYJ, was questioned by police on Wednesday over allegations that he took drugs together with the granddaughter of the founder of a dairy producer.

The 33-year-old Park appeared at the drug crime unit of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency in Suwon, Gyeonggi, at around 10 a.m.

“I will faithfully undergo investigations,” Park told reporters upon arrival.

He did not answer when asked about whether he denies the allegations.

He is alleged to have used methamphetamine early this year with Hwang Ha-na, the now-arrested granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy Products.

Hwang, 31, was arrested earlier this month on charges of selling methamphetamine and using the illegal substance in 2015. She reportedly told to police that she was lured by Park into using drug together.

Hwang was Park’s fiance. The couple planned to get married in 2017, but broke up the following year for an unknown reason.

Police raided Park’s house on Tuesday, confiscating his mobile phone and other belongings and collecting hair samples for drug tests. He tested negative in a preliminary drug test. The sample was sent to the state forensic agency for a full-fledged test.

At a press conference last week, Park flatly denied the allegations.

A number of K-pop stars and TV celebrities have recently faced drug allegations.

Seungri, former K-pop boy band Big Bang member, and Robert Holley, a naturalized Korean citizen from the United States and a TV personality, have been under probe over suspected illegal drug use.
