The high torque cleaner head is powerful for cleaning floors. [DYSON]

Dyson, a global technology company, pursues the most advanced technologies and the highest in product quality.

To ensure the best results, 4,550 Dyson engineers develop products from sketches, prototypes and product tests. In addition to technology development, Dyson continues to focus on improving performance through better planning and design even after a product release.

In early April, Dyson unveiled a new wireless vacuum cleaner. The cord-free Dyson V11™ Complete has optimized performance and runtime to ensure users effectively manage suction power and battery usage.

This is made possible by the three microprocessors in the product. These three microprocessors are installed along with a Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) with a high torque cleaner head, a Dyson Digital Motor V11™ and a battery.

As a result, the high torque cleaner head automatically adjusts the suction force depending on the floor type and users can check the remaining usage time.

A new level of intelligence provides cleaning and monitoring performance of up to 8,000 times a second, which is displayed on the LCD screen of the Dyson V11 vacuum.

The Dyson V11™ Complete cord-free vacuum is the result of more than a decade of cord-free vacuum and Dyson digital motor development by 315 engineers and over 62,000 prototypes.

“We’ve been developing vacuums for over 25 years. The evolution never stops,” said James Dyson, chief engineer and inventor at Dyson. “With the Dyson V11™ cord-free vacuum, our focus was not only on improving performance, but on adding intelligence to genuinely assist people’s cleaning.”

The Dyson V11™ cord-free vacuum offers a two-year warranty, including the battery (excluding user error) and a stand to enhance convenience for Korean consumers.

High torque cleaner head with DLS

The DLS system, unique to the high torque cleaner head, intelligently detects brush bar resistance up to 360 times a second and automatically communicates with the motor and battery’s microprocessors to change the suction power between carpets and hard floors.

This enables carpets to be deep cleaned and runtime to be extended on hard floors.

The high torque cleaner head is Dyson’s most powerful cord-free cleaner head ever. It features stiff nylon bristles that drive deep into carpet to remove ground-in dirt, and anti-static carbon fiber filaments that capture dust from hard floors and crevices.

An integrated digital motor spins the brush bar up to 60 times a second.

Dyson engineers also devised a way to seal the high torque cleaner head to the floor by using a sealing bellow made of elastic polyurethane.

Reporting in real time

The screen shows current performance, including selected power mode and remaining run time, giving the user more control of their cleaning.

The screen also reminds the user when to clean filters for optimum performance and informs them about any blockages and how to clear them.

Thanks to sensor magnets embedded in the filter assembly, the screen can tell the user when the filter isn’t connected properly.

Dyson’s most powerful battery

Dyson’s most powerful battery pack has seven larger high-capacity cells with nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathodes to help deliver more suction power.

The Dyson V1™ vacuum’s battery and monitor system work together to gauge how much run time remains.

The system measures the cell capacity and uses an algorithm that learns how the user’s machine works over time to calculate the remaining runtime. The time displayed will take the cleaning mode, tool and floor type into account.

Stronger suction power than before

Dyson engineers analyzed every detail of this new model’s predecessor, the Dyson digital motor V10.

In the new Dyson digital motor V11, which spins at up to 125,000 revolutions per minute, a triple diffuser is used.

The first two diffusers straighten airflow and reduce turbulence, helping to increase suction, while the third diffuser further reduces noise and improves acoustics.

The impeller - the part of the motor that actually drives the air - has redesigned blades that are longer and thinner to increase the area in contact with the air, without increasing the impeller’s mass.

This creates a reduced load on the blades per unit area, reducing air leakage and increasing the efficiency of air movement.

The impeller blade profile has also been redesigned, with each blade forming an S shape to match the shape of the shroud in which the impeller sits.

This enables a clearance of a fraction of a millimeter between the blade tips and the shroud, thus reducing air leakage and increasing efficiency.

Aerospace materials are found in the motor, including phenolic compound casing, which is used in satellites and provides a high strength-to-weight ratio.

The motor’s ceramic impeller shaft is cured at 1,600 degrees Celsius (2,912 degrees Fahrenheit) to make it three times stiffer than steel, but with half the density.

To spin the motor, 880 layers of paper-thin laminated steel generate the magnetic fields, while the motor’s impeller is made from polyether ether ketone and carbon fiber composite found inside high-intensity pistons.

A pressure sensor in the Dyson Digital Motor V11 reports information back to the microprocessor.

This enables on-screen blockage reporting as a sudden, sharp drop in pressure indicates a blockage. If a slower decline is detected, it indicates the filter needs washing.

Advanced filtration

Exposure to dust and allergens can affect a person’s well-being. The Dyson V1™ vacuum’s fully sealed filtration system captures 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns expelling cleaner air.

Fourteen cyclones generate a force of more than 79,000 G-forces to fling microscopic particles - such as pollen and bacteria - into the bin.

Battery information

? The Dyson V11™ complete cord-free vacuum battery and monitoring system work together to measure the remaining usage time of the product and show it on the LCD screen. The system utilizes an algorithm that learns how the product has operated in the past to increase accuracy when calculating the remaining usage time. Using the algorithm to determine more accurate measurements does not affect the actual usage time of the product.

? It is crucial to fully charge the battery before using the Dyson V11™ Complete cord-free vacuum for the first time and after every cleaning to improve the accuracy of the algorithm. The vacuum cleaner is designed to automatically charge the battery when it is plugged into the cradle. Once the battery is fully charged, it no longer uses electricity.

? All batteries can have different life spans depending on the method used. The operating time is also influenced by the energy consumed by the cleaning mode and floor type. For instance, cleaning up a thick carpet consumes more energy than a thin carpet. The user can select the power mode appropriate for the type of cleaning and use the boost mode only when cleaning intensively to maximize the usage time and life span of the product.

Other information

? The Dyson V11™ Complete cord-free vacuum is configured in three modes to suit the cleaning range, providing users with various choices of suction power.

? Auto-mode detects and converts for deep cleaning. It forms an optimum balance of suction power and operating time that is intelligently converted depending on the floor type.

? Boost mode is designed to intensively clean dirt with the strongest suction force for up to 5 minutes.

? Normal mode allows cleaning for longer than 60 minutes, regardless of floor type.

? During the automatic mode, the high torque cleaner head is automatically converted depending on the floor type. The soft roller cleaner head was developed to clean the floor in the same way as before, sucking in fine dust and debris at the same time.

? Mini motor tools capture hair and soil in narrow spaces such as stairs or vehicles.

? It is possible to switch easily from stick mode to hand mode with one click to easily catch dust and allergens in users’ homes and cars.
