Kang Jung-ho hits 4th homer of season off Merrill Kelly

Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates hit his fourth home run of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Kang, who was assigned as sixth batter and third baseman, had two hits, an RBI, a run and was given a walk throughout the game. At the bottom of second inning while the Pirates were losing 0-4, Kang had a two-base hit. Then, in the fourth inning, Kang was given a walk.

In the sixth inning, Kang once again hit off of the Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly’s sinker pitched at 144 kilometers per hour (89 miles per hour). This time, Kang hit it over the center field for his fourth home run of the season.

Despite Kang’s multi-hit game, the Pirates still lost the game 2-11.

It was an interesting match for the fans to watch as Kang’s home run was against Kelly, who played for the KBO’s SK Wyverns until last year. The two never faced each other in the KBO.

With a home run, Kang now has a batting average of .167.
