Kia Tigers manager resigns as club continues to struggle

Kia Tigers manager Kim Ki-tai has resigned as manager, stepping down as soon as the Tigers finished their game against the KT Wiz on Thursday night.

The Tigers, the 2017 regular season and Korean Series champions, have been struggling this season as they are ranked last in the league with 13 wins and 29 losses, as of Thursday.

“I thought I had to take responsibility for the team,” Kim said.

Kim was appointed as the Tigers’ manager in October 2014, becoming the club’s eighth manager. He led the Tigers to three straight postseason advancements starting in 2016.

Starting today, the Tigers’ Futures League team manager Park Heung-sik will serve as interim manager.
