Hwang Ha-na avoids prison time

Hwang Ha-na, former fiancee of Park Yu-chun and granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy, received a one-year suspended prison sentence with two years of probation for drug abuse on Friday.

Suwon District Court also ordered 40 hours of mandatory medical treatment and a fine of 2.2 million won ($1,900).

“The defendant had bought and injected methamphetamine with her acquaintances multiple times, but there seems to be no other purpose behind the drug trade except for her own use,” presiding Judge Lee Won-seok said. “The court also took account that, besides the drug abuse, this is her first offense.”

However, the judge warned that further drug-related charges even after her probation ends would land her in prison.

Hwang’s ex-fiance Park also received 10 months of suspended prison sentence with two years of probation on July 2.

Hwang was arrested on April 6 on charges of selling and using the illegal drug in 2015. Further police investigation proved that Park also took the drug together when they were together.
