Kia Motors now taking Mohave SUV preorders

Kia Motors has started taking preorders for its upgraded Mohave SUV ahead of launching the vehicle in the domestic market next month.

The second-largest automaker by sales in Korea said in a statement Wednesday that the Mohave the Master comes with a wider radiator grille, a muscular hood and LED headlamps. Kia Motors teased the exterior design of its new SUV earlier this month.

The vehicle can achieve up to 260 horsepower and 57.1 kilogram-meters in torque with its 3.0-liter (183 cubic inches) diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. The large-size premium SUV is 4.93 meters (16.17 feet) long, 1.92 meters wide and 1.79 meters tall.

All trims of Mohave the Master are equipped with forward collision avoidance assist, lane assist and rear collision prevention systems. The SUV is designed to drive well in different weather conditions with its terrain mode, Kia added.

The new Mohave has two cruise control systems and a highway driving assist system.

The new model, offered in five different exterior color options, comes with a voice command system and a surround audio system with 15 speakers. It also has a navigation system with a 12.3-inch display.

The Platinum trim is priced between 47 million won ($39,068) and 47.5 million won, while the Master trim starts at 51.6 million won.

Kia Motors has been focusing on producing SUVs. As it has been selling fewer vehicles this year so far, Kia Motors recently launched the Seltos compact SUV in India and started mass producing the vehicle there.

The automaker’s SUV lineup now includes the Mohave, Telluride, Sportage, Sorento, Stonic subcompact, Niro and Soul boxcar.
