Gemini Man (12)

Henry Brogan is a top government assassin, but he is growing tired of his profession and plans to retire soon. However, after he kills an innocent man, his former agency aims to hunt down and kill anyone with information about the crime, including Brogan.

While Brogan is fighting off the agents, he comes across a particularly ferocious one who almost kills him. However, he is shocked to discover that the formidable agent is an exact replica of his younger self. Brogan cannot shake off the feeling that he and the mysterious agent are linked in a way that is more terrible than he can imagine.

The film is director Ang Lee’s latest film and uses the latest 3-D modeling technology to depict multiple versions of Brogan, played by Hollywood star Will Smith.

The director’s most famous films include “Brokeback Mountain” (2005), “Lust, Caution” (2007) and “Life of Pi” (2012).

Man of Men (12)

Young-gi is a gangster who is followed by trouble wherever he goes. When he hears a piece of stock information that could help him reap a fortune, he rashly steals 700 million won ($585,000) from his boss to make an investment and quickly loses it all. While figuring out how he is going to pay it back, a lifesaver in the form of terminally ill law firm CEO Jang-soo appears in front of him and proposes a deal: Young-gi will be able to acquire his death benefit worth 12 million won if he helps Jang-soo cross off items on his bucket list for two months. Young-gi gleefully agrees, and the two men begin an adventure that turns their lives upside down.

The film stars actors Seol Kyung-gu and Cho Jin-woong as Jang-soo and Young-gi. Cho’s recent works include 2018’s “The Spy Gone North” and “Intimate Strangers” and “Jesters: The Game Changers,” which came out this August.

Joker (15)

“I used to think that my life was a tragedy. But now I realize, it’s a comedy.”

Arthur Fleck is a social outcast who supports his frail mother through working as a clown. He dreams of being a stand-up comedian because his mother told him that his “purpose [is] to bring laughter and joy to the world.”

Despite his goals, he is shunned for his mental illness and neurological condition called pseudobulbar affect (PBA), in which he cannot control his laughter, even in inappropriate situations. Due to the failing economy of Gotham City, he is further isolated from society when he is cut off from his therapy sessions and necessary medications.

As Fleck continues to be pushed into the corner with no hope ahead of him, the Joker slowly emerges from him.

The psychological thriller won the Golden Lion award at the 76th Venice International Film Festival last month. Acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix stars as the Joker.

Crazy Romance (15)

Jae-hoon is struggling after breaking up with his girlfriend. As usual, he starts his morning with a bad hangover, and when he looks at his phone, he sees that he had been on the phone with an unfamiliar number for two hours. He soon finds out that the number belongs to his co-worker, Sun-young, whom he’s met less than 24 hours prior.

Sun-young is currently going through a break up with her boyfriend. While she was fighting with her boyfriend on her very first day at a new job, she meets Jae-hoon. Even before they get to know each other as co-workers, they become quite familiar with each other’s relationships. Although they have opposing views on relationships and romance, they continue to look out for each other.

Actors Kim Rae-won and Kong Hyo-jin play Jae-hoon and Sun-young. This is Kim’s second film this year that takes on a lighter mood than his darker roles in previous films, such as 2017’s “RV: Resurrected Victims” and “The Prison.” Kong, a veteran of romantic comedies, is currently appearing in the KBS2 drama series “When the Camellia Blooms” with actor Kang Ha-neul.

Ja-young has been trying to pass the civil service examination for eight years now - at this point in her life, she has lost all of her desire to do anything.

One day, she sees a running crew speed past her and is startled to find them looking so vibrant and energetic. When she goes back home, she digs through her drawers to take out her old running shoes.

She researches proper running techniques and also befriends Hyun-ju along the way. While running, she strangely feels free and, little by little, is able to find joy in living again.

Actor Choi Hee-seo takes on the role of Ja-young. The actor received praise for her portrayal of Fumiko Kaneko, the lover of independence activist Park Yeol in the 2017 film “Anarchist from Colony.”

Battle of Jangsari (12)

The day before the famous Battle of Incheon took place, there was the often forgotten Battle of Jangsari.

The battle was a feint operation conducted by 772 young soldiers on Jangsari beach in North Gyeongsang to divert the North’s attention from the Battle of Incheon. They were hardly expected to succeed. Due to the large number of casualties, the battle was covered up until the survivors formed a committee in 1980 and their ship, the Moonsan, was discovered in 1997.

Director Kwak Kyung-taek, recognized for his iconic film “Friend” (2001), directed the film, and veteran and rookie actors, such as Kim Myung-min, Kim In-kwon, Kwak Si-yang, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Ho-jung and more play commanders and teen soldiers modeled after real fighters. Hollywood star Megan Fox also appears in the film as the compassionate war correspondent Maggie.
