‘Seoul Girls’ is coming to Hollywood

Lionsgate, the film distribution company, has picked up rights to the Hollywood’s first-ever K-pop comedy film “Seoul Girls,” according to a report by American media outlet Deadline.

Written by actor Rebel Wilson, star of “Pitch Perfect” (2012) and “Isn’t It Romantic” (2019), the story centers around a Korean-American high school girl and her friends participating in an audition to perform as the opening act of “the world’s biggest K-pop boy band.”

This marks the first time that K-pop has been used as the main theme of a Hollywood commercial film.

Wilson will produce and appear in the Monumental Pictures film. The company is also behind the Universal’s upcoming “Cats” film adaptation, in which Wilson also co-stars.
