LG Electronics panels are used in massive solar farm

LG Electronics has sold solar panels to Australia’s Moorebank Logistics Park, the country’s largest logistics complex, LG said Tuesday.

The project is one of the largest installations of roof-mounted solar panels in the country.

LG supplied more than 7,500 solar panels to the complex, which is in Sydney, Australia. Total capacity is 3 megawatts, and 4,800 megawatt hours of energy can be delivered per year. This is equivalent to the power use of 1,300 homes.

The panel installed is the 400W LG NeON 2, which is designed for commercial systems. In size, it is similar to many conventional 360W cell panels but produces 11 percent more electricity per square meter.

Installation of the panels was handled by Modcol, an Australian company that services large-scale development and construction projects.

“Over the next 25 years, the Moorebank solar project is expected to result in net emission reductions of more than 1.2 million tons of CO2,” said Markus Lambert, general manager, Solar and Energy, LG Electronics Australia.
