Last year was a meaningful centennial in many ways. ⓐ1919 was the centennial of the March 1st Independence Movement and the establishment of ⓑthe provisional government. Korean cinema also celebrated ⓒthe centennial. ⓑⓒⓓⓓ

ⓑ the provisional government → the provisional government in Shanghai

ⓒ the centennial → its centennial

How about world history? As I reviewed the timeline on English Wikipedia, I paid attention to ⓐNew York Times’ error of the century. On ⓑJanuary 12, 1920, ⓒthe New York Times published an article titled “Believes Rocket Can Reach Moon.” It discussed ⓓthe “multiple-charge, high-efficiency rocket” that drew attention ⓔin the academia and denounced the possibility of exploring the moon. In the editorial on the next day, it claimed that there was no guarantee that the rocket could return and ⓕderided that Professor Robert Goddard “only seems to lack the knowledge ladled out daily in high schools.” 49 years later on July 17, 1969, the New York Times published a correction, ⓖ “The Times regrets the error” the day after the launch of Apollo 11.

ⓐ New York Times → the New York Times 공식 명칭에 the가 있음

ⓑ January → Jan.

ⓒ the New York Times → the Times

ⓓ the → a 누구나 알 수 있는 로켓이 아니므로 a rocket으로

ⓔ in the academia → from academia

ⓖ 없음 → It said, a correction은 일종의 ‘형식’이므로 내용과 동격이 아님
