C9 Entertainment starts new label

C9 Entertainment has founded a new label called J9 Entertainment, to specialize in nurturing and managing girl groups, the agency said on Wednesday.

“To make sure that we manage our artists in the best and most professional way, we founded a new label, J9 Entertainment, for girl groups,” the agency said.

Run by CEO Kim Bum-joon - who previously managed big-time boy bands Shinhwa and g.o.d as well as singer Lyn - the first girl group to debut under its wing will be seven-member band Cignature with members Chaesol, Jeewon, Ye Ah, Sunn, Seline, Belle and Semi.

The group is set to make its debut in February, but no further details have been revealed yet.

“We will provide a deeper and more detailed system through a label specializing [in girl groups] and maximize their potential,” J9 Entertainment said.
